Nice...I absolutely MUST upgrade my machine so I can run Fragmentarium.

Thanks ... I would say it was worth it, finding it to be one of the best fractal programs yet even though it is a bit glitchy and less user friendly

It shouldn't be long before I can afford a new machine...I also want to try a few other programs like StructureSynth, UltraFractal, and XenoDream - none of which will work on my poor little laptop.

i tried structure synth but it looked like too much of a longterm project before i could get anything cool from it...i'm not good with numbers!.. Surprised your lappy struggles with UF in comparison to MB3D , some formulas are a bit slow but in general its ok..and it has the added bonus of being able to stop and start again mid render which i love as it means you can stop a render do a different task and then restart the render from where it left off. So long as you have a high end graphic card Fragmentarium should run fine so get a custom built or add on a good card when you get a new machine :)

I often wish I could pause renders in M3D - sometimes I end up just quitting and starting again later.
I do plan on spending a fair amount of money so hopefully I'll be well enough equipped.
Thanks for the tips! ;)

yep I end up doing exactly the same thing..especially when it says ..2days 7hrs to go  Compared to a few years ago you get so much processing power for not so much money..its nice

So, in your experience, would more processors make for faster renders? (this is what I am hoping)

I'm not sure about more but a higher end nvidia gaming/graphics card should be super fast and you can also overclock it to get it running as fast as possible..render time for a 5mb jpeg with reflections, hard shadows and the rest takes around 100 seconds max on my card and it's not even all that good so render times become almost meaningless :)

If I looked up in the sky and saw the moon full of holes like this, I'd flip out! :cheese:

you're welcome,
& I didn't mean the 3D orientation, I meant the way those two holes overlap to form a 'soap bubble' like profile.
Well, I know it's unavoidable, but conceptually that'd make sense isn't it?
:)
Cheers!

I love how they overlap.

Makes it just a little imperfect => perfect!

Awesome fractal. And I knew, the moon was made of cheese. :D

I'd agree with that 'little imperfect=> perfect' if the imperfection was strategically planned for any design, but being a firm believer in 'Order before chaos' I always tend to look for perfection before I can appreciate deviation from it.
But, it's an awesome fractal none the less. :)

Thanks....No not really ..just a good graphics card and a basic understanding of fractal types and a reasonable understanding of lighting/colouring and a bit of patience ! :)

Hmmm. Fractals I don't really get, and lighting/coloring I don't really get either. Lol :D Umm any basics you could show me?
