It maybe doesn't matter to most of you but it's time to divest from Wix. In my family, through my schooling and throughout my community I have always been taught and seen that the people of Palestine were the ones being wrongly acted against, the ones who were getting the shitty end of the stick from the Israeli state apparatus. Against that background we always tried to not buy any Israeli products, to divest from supporting an apartheid state in the same way we treated South Africa. I remember having my doubts when Wix took over dA but I had invested a lot in my work here and have much respect for the community here and found the welcome they gave me to be genuinely heart warming with thousands of watchers, over 130k page views, 9DD's and some very nice interactions on my posts all within 10 years. . sadly it still meant that at that point I stopped using dA very much for the last 3+ years. When I saw the recent use of the site to promote a purely Israel state narrative after the horrific attack of Oct 7th I knew my time here was over. This is a narrative of hate, degradation and apartheid aimed to de-humanise innocent people and make it acceptable to treat them far worse than most would treat an animal. This narrative has enabled the slaughter of over 11,000 innocents so far and has undoubtedly fanned the flames of division and hatred for generations to come...exactly what those in power on both sides wanted to achieve. This is not what a supposedly inclusive global art site should be involved with, if you had called for #peace for all people or #peaceinthemiddleeast #endviolence #compasion #understanding #stopwar #endhate #stopapartheid #endcolonialism any number of banners but no you only want it for the state of Israel #prayforIsrael. I took down all my works but will leave this up here just as a placeholder. and how is it going.. now in the first week of January 2024 there have been 22,700+ innocent civilian deaths, 60, 000 innocent civilian injured , the deliberate and targeted destruction of civilian infrastructure with the aim to steal the land and oust the population.. c'mon fellow artists, where is your voice and where is your heart!
